​William (Bill) Inmon (Forest Rim Technology)
The “Father of Data Warehousing” – has written over 53 books published in nine languages. Bill’s latest adventure is the building of technology known as TextualETL™ for textual disambiguation – technology that reads raw text in a narrative format and allows the text to be placed in a conventional data base so that it can be analyzed by standard analytical technology, thereby creating unique business value for Big Data/unstructured data.  Bill was named by ComputerWorld as one of the ten most influential people in the history of the computer profession.

Dr. Kewal Dhariwal (ICCP)
Kewal Dhariwal is the Executive Director of the ICCP – an American organization that certifies business, data and computer professionals globally.  He is the program chair of the Data Management Conference – Canada.  He is a founding director of the DAMA Edmonton Chapter. Prior to that he was a key founder of the Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) program which today is known as Certified Data Professional (CDP) and was instrumental in starting the Certified Data Scientist program at ICCP.  He founded the NAIT Microcomputer Institute (which today is  known as the NAIT Computer Training Center).

​Iqbal Jamal (AQL Management Consultants)
Iqbal is an experienced management consultant who works on Big Data problems as a Data Scientist. Working in Western Canada, he has now moved to Vancouver from Edmonton.The half day KNIME workshop will focus on Konstant Information Flow for big data analytics.. Showing how KNIME can be used with Tensorflow from Google. TensorFlow was originally developed by researchers and engineers working on the Google Brain Team within Google's Machine Intelligence research organization for the purposes of conducting machine learning and deep neural networks research,  KNIME  an open source data analytics, reporting and integration platform can be considered as a SAS alternative.

She has worked extensively across the USA and Canada with Industries such as Retail, Energy, Health, Government, & Defense.

Dr. Bradley Jensen (Accenture)
How are the major companies using Data Science to get a competitive advantage?  What constitutes a good data scientist? How to recruit and retain the best skills? What skills are required of Data Scientists? How does Accenture view the roles and responsibilities of their unique “Swat Team” of data scientists who work on the really hard problems that others cannot solve?
What kinds of assessments should be made of Data Scientists? Dr. Jensen was part of a team of subject matter experts who put together the “Beta” exam for ICCP and currently serves as ACM (www.acm.org) representative on the ICCP (www.iccp.org) Board of Directors, fulfilling the President’s role.

​The world’s foremost authority on metadata management, he is an internationally recognized expert in the fields of data management, data governance, data warehouse, business intelligence and data stewardship. In 2008 David Marco was enshrined into the DAMA Data Management Hall of Fame (Professional Achievement Award) which is the highest honor a data management professional can attain. He has earned the CDMP and CBIP certifications. David is the author of widely acclaimed, top-selling books “Universal Meta Data Models” and “Building and Managing the Meta Data Repository” and a coauthor of “Impossible Data Warehouse Situations and Solutions From The Experts” and “Data Resource Management”.

Dr. Jerry Luftman (GIIM-New York)
Jerry was a CIO for IBM and later founded and is General Manager for his own company Global Institute for IT Management.  GIIM has over 4500 senior managers world-wide taking their programs.  The exponential increases in digital resources are forcing senior managers to adapt rapidly to changing technologies and ways of handling and assessing business value from these arenas.  Jerry will talk about the roles of CIO, CTO, CDO and emerging ways to make sure your senior managers are prepared to handle these roles and how organizations need to prepare people for succession planning, including identifying & certifying senior managers who can handle these roles.

​Dr. Ken Barker (University of Calgary)
Dr. Barker teaches and researches in the the Institute for Security, Privacy and Information Assurance (ISPIA) a multi-disciplinary Institute at the University of Calgary.  The ISPIA is devoted to research and educational activities in all aspects of information protection, with strong linkages to industry and community.  ISPIA is an evolution of the Centre for Information Security and Cryptography.  Dr. Barker will speak on data privacy and governance facing Chief Privacy Officers in an era of increasing cyber-threats including the risks of privacy breach and the requirements for appropriate response.

Elena founded the Cryptochicks organization to promote Blockchain and cryptocurrencies for women.  She also is a Blockchain advisor on the Jupiter Vision Blockchain Project and CTO of CryptoCrunch - an investment fund in Blockchain technology.  Elena has worked with secure environments and has a host of wonderful stories to share about her experiences in distributed ledgers and secure data exchange.

Rene Kohut (Method1 Enterprise Solutions)
Rene is the Chief Operating Officer of Method1 Enterprise Solutions Inc.  He is a former Bitcoin miner who has extensive experience (20+ years) with integrating applications for all kinds of companies from the big oil companies to national professional associations.  The foundation data models built by his company allow them to build applications on time and within budgets with high degree of successful implementations.  His recent work on automating secure data exchanges using blockchain and JavaScript make this conference worth attending on its own merit.
